Souad Hashem | Ya Tair (The Voice of the Cedars)

Souad Hashem was born in Lebanon in 1940 and recorded maybe two dozen singles and a handful of LPs from the late 1950s through the 1970s. Her sister, Noha Hashem, was also a recording artist, though even less prolific.

This 45 has never been offered for sale on Discogs and I can't remember now where I found it. The A-Side is a solid, driving track, but it's the B-Side that makes this record post-worthy. The two tracks were composed by different artists: "Ya Tair" by Oud player and composer Abdel Ghani Shaaban; "Euyan Alkahlah" by Shafiq Abu Shaqra.
