Mr. A. Henedy & Safaa | Sonkor (Soutelphan, 1966)

Wow.

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wowie, ah-wow, wow, wow. This record is one of the most cuckoo bananas things we've ever heard.

The title ("سنقر") seems to mean "We'll click," at least according to Google Translate, and apparently that's the joke, given that you've got Mr. A. Henedy (Egyptian actor Amin al-Hinedi), who has a voice like an off-the-rails Tom Waits, imploring "Sonkor! Sonkor!" to Safaa (Egyptian actress Safaa Abu Al-Saud), who starred in such films as "She and the Guys" and "Girls and Love." What Safaa replies to Mr. Henedy, we couldn't tell you, but it isn't "We'll click." She was 16 when this 45 was recorded.

We don't make the rules, kids; we just share the spoils. This single consists of the one song spread across Sides A and B; we've combined the two into a single MP3 should you be so inclined to listen or download.
