Fursan Khalifa | Sadaqini (Sono Cairo, 1965)
A terrific track from a brief series of singles Sono Cairo pressed by Yemini composer and singer Fursan Khalifa.
Born in Aden in 1941, Khalifa moved to Cairo in 1961 to study music, where he met and worked with some of the giants of the Egyptian music industry. But, in 1972, he left all of that behind, relocating to United Arab Emirates, where he worked until retirement for the Immigration and Passports Authority.
This 45 consists of a single song, "Sadaqini," his own composition with lyrics by Yemeni poet Abdullah Abdul Karim, spread over both sides. We've collapsed the two into a single MP3. The sudden, rough start of Side B is a product of the original.
