Mohamed Abdel Muttalib | Naksh El-Hinna (Soutelphan, 1971)

Born in 1910 in the upper Egyptian town of Shubrakhit, northwest of Tanta, Mohamed Abdel Muttalib got his professional start in Mohamed Abdel Wahab's chorus. From there he launched a very successful singing career that lasted nearly half a century.

Naksh El-Hinna, which we might translate as "Henna Pattern," was recorded during the last decade of the singer's life. It was composed by Baligh Hamdi, one of the greatest Egyptian composers of all time.

As with many singles we've shared before, this contains a single track across both sides. We've combined the two sides together into a more-or-less seamless whole. The opening of Side B is a bit abrupt; that's a product of the original.
