Ahmida Mousa | Ya Layamna (Sono Cairo)

Our primary goal with this blog was to post incredible music from the Arabic-speaking world on 7" vinyl that most of our readers would presumably never have heard before. Today's offering almost certainly fits that bill.

According to his Discogs page, Ahmida Mousa was an Egyptian bedouin singer from Sidi Barrani near the Libyan border. Discogs catalogs five of Mousa's singles; this one is not among them. 

As engaging as Mousa's voice is -- it's terrifically distinct -- we especially love the choruses on these two tracks, some of the best use of ensemble singers we've ever heard from this part of the world.
